Boxing – This will be 12 rounds of super middleweight boxing action for the IBF Super Middleweight Belt which Lucian Bute currently holds and to be defend to the IBF number one ranked supper middleweight contender Librado Andrade.

Bute Andrade BoxingThe Unbeaten Romanian-born IBF super middleweight champion Lucien Bute (24-0, 19 KO’s) puts his title on the line in a rematch against Librado Andrade (28-2, 21 KO’s) of Mexico. The championship bout will take place in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada at the Quebec Pepsi Coliseum.

Both boxers tipped the scales under the super-middleweight 168 pound limit last Friday, November 27. Bute, who is making the fourth defence of his IBF title, weighed in at 166.8 pounds.

The challenger to his IBF belt, Librado Andrade, weighed at 166.7 pounds. This will be Andrade’s third attempt at a championship title.

Andrade as the challenger will be making $302,500 for the fight while the champion Bute will be making the lion’s share, a career high of $988,500.

A lightweight championship bout between Joan Guzman of the Dominican Republic and Ali Funeka of South Africa, will be televised right before the Bute vs. Andrade rematch. Guzman vs. Funeka will be for the vacant IBF 135 pound lightweight title.

A forumer under username Njord777 of Boxing Scene (boxingscene.com) predicted:

I’m calling Andrade HBO’s ‘Poor man’s Gatti’. He’s not the same fighter, of course, and the style is different but I see HBO using him in a similar capacity. He’s a rough fighter who is coming to come forward, get nailed, and be in entertaining fights due to his poor defense and yet ability to stop people late. HBO is going to love putting this guy on co-features and PPV undercards.

I don’t think he’s championship caliber, though. I mean…that’s what we’re asking- can he become champ? Maybe Bute isn’t an elite fighter himself, but I feel like Andrade will fall short whenever he take a step up. There is a big difference between a B- and B+ fighter. I think Librado lies on that borderline that he can thrive against the B- guys but, more often than not, isn’t ready for the B+ or A- league men.
