Motorola — Motorola has released its first cell phone based on the Android operating system. Motorola’s Droid Cell Phone – a new iPhone?

Motorola-Droid-GSM-Android-20-2The cell phone which has been currently released only in United Sates is called Droid. Droid cell phone by Motorola is featuring version 2.0 of Android OS by Google. One of the main features of Android is that it comes with Google Maps and it enables the user to get information about turn-by-turn direction and the information is voice-enabled. Although, there are many to-be-released-soon cell phones which are featuring this one-of-its-kind mobile operating system, currently Droid is having competition with only one cell phone in the market – HTC Magic. Other features of the Droid includes a wide touch screen, QWERTY keyboard, CDMA based networking, multiple player software for videos and audio, BLUETOOTH, WiFi, and USB data connector. There is a variety of other applications related to internet and web browsing available too.

A good business is anticipated and it is being expected that Droid cell phones will provide Motorola the breakthrough in the market. The company is in the business for quite some time now and was doing extremely well until the wave of touch phones came into the market. Motorola cell phones lacked the dazzling features which other big names (Like Apple, Nokia, and Samsung) included in their phones. No doubt, Motorola needs a hit and Droid may just provide that to its makers.

The Droid cell phone is supported by Verizon Wireless only. Motorola is planning to launch the cell phone in other countries too where Vodefone (the service provider of Verizon) is providing its services. These countries will be future markets of Droid and includes New Zealand, UK, Australia, and India.
