Tatum O’Neil –the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had already clarified Farrah Fawcett’s omission from the Oscars’ In Memoriam montage, yet Tatum O’Neil thinks that it is complete rebuke.
O’Neal, the daughter of the Charlie’s Angels star longtime beau Ryan O’Neal, is speaking about the failure of the Academy to give recognition to Fawcett’s contribution to film.
As quoted from a statement, O’Neil said that “on behalf of myself, my father, Ryan O’Neal, and my entire family, we are deeply saddened that a truly beautiful and talented actress Farrah Fawcett was not included in the memorial montage,”
Though the two are not that close, O’Neal’s declaration proved that she had strengthened up their bonds before Fawcett’s demise last year due to cancer. Fawcett was then 62.
“We are bereft with this exclusion of such an international icon who inspired so many for so many reasons,” O’Neal stated. “Beautiful, talented Farrah will never be forgotten by her family and amazing fans.”
Fawcett should be remembered due to her “remarkable television work” and not solely on her works for film, according to Bruce Davis, an Academy representative. Although Davis had given this reasoning, he still offered O’Neal’s family and the Charlie’s Angels star fans his sincere apologies.
“There’s nothing you can say to people, particularly to family members, within a day or two of the show that helps at all,” Davis said. “They tend to be surprised and hurt, and we understand that and we’re sorry for it.
