World Cup Qualifying — Algeria vs Egypt faces a match for the CAF playoffs tonight, which may be available via live stream as WCQ 2010 is coming closer.
Algeria and Egypt both have a lot at stake, in playing to be the last African team to make it into the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Twenty years ago, the two teams were also forced to play for a place in the World Cup in Italy in 1990. The Pharaohs won that exchange.
There is no love lost between these two sides. Before last week’s game in Cairo, three Algerian players were injured when their team bus was pelted with stones. The Algerian coach, Rabah Saadane, said his team’s loss was due to injuries sustained by his players. After the game, at least 32 people were hurt, and the next day, Egyptian businesses in
Algiers were ransacked.
Thousands of supporters have already arrived at Khartoum Airport for tonight’s game. Khartoum has not seen such a football pilgrimage since hosting the African Nations Cup in 1970.
Kickoff time is 5:30P.M. and live streaming for Algeria vs Egypt may be available via ESPN Soccernet.
