Taylor Swift: Isn’t Looking For Love.

Taylor Swift - – The 20-year-old singer claims she is too busy working to “wallow” in her single status and thinks she will find romance when she least expects it.

She said: “There’s a lot to distract me from dating. I don’t really sit around and wallow in being alone. It’s in my comfort zone, being single.

“I feel that a lot happens to you when you’re not looking for it, so I’m not actively looking. I don’t have a problem with being single.”

Taylor – who previously dated Jonas Brothers star Joe Jonas – claims her relaxed attitude to romance comes from observing her friends and their anxieties over their relationships.

She explained: “All my friends in high school would always go from boyfriend to boyfriend and they were never alone because they hated being alone. I never want to be that way.”

The ‘Love Story’ singer hopes her celebrity status doesn’t scare away potential suitors.

She told Top of the Pops magazine: “I don’t know how many are scared off. I try to be an approachable person and I don’t have a bunch of bodyguards or a big entourage. I’m just a normal person.”

Kelly Clarkson Defended American Idol From Borchetta’s Statement On Defending Swift

Tags: , , , ,

Grammy Awards 2010 — Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta recently defended Taylor Swift’s Grammy performance as it has been on the receiving end of some criticism.

Borchetta blamed a technical difficulty, but he also had this statement to say:

This is not American Idol. This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It’s not about that technically perfect performance.

Well Kelly Clarkson, the first-ever winner of American Idol, wasn’t going to take that comment lying down and she wrote Borchetta an open letter on her blog in response to his snarky comment:

Wow …..Dear Scott Borchetta,

I understand defending your artist obviously because I have done the same in the past for artists I like, including Taylor, so you might see why its upsetting to read you attacking American Idol for producing simply vocalists that hit ‘the high notes’. Thank you for that ‘Captain Obvious’ sense of humor because you know what, we not only hit the high notes, you forgot to mention we generally hit the ‘right’ notes as well.

Every artist has a bad performance or two and that is understandable, but throwing blame will not make the situation at hand any better. I have been criticized left and right for having shaky performances before (and they were shaky) and what my manager or label executives say to me and the public is “I’ll kick butt next time” or “every performance isn’t going to be perfect” ……I bring this up because you should take a lesson from these people and instead of lashing out at other artists (that in your ‘humble’ opinion lack true artistry), you should simply take a breath and realize that sometimes things won’t go according to plan or work out and that’s okay.

Sincerely,

One of those contestants from American Idol who only made it because of her high notes ;)

What are your thoughts on this?

Record Label Defends Taylor Swift’s Grammy Performance with Stevie Nicks

Tags: , , , , , , ,

Grammy Awards – Taylor Swift may be twenty but she has already achieved a lot, including four Grammys last Sunday at the Staples Center, Los Angeles.

The country-music superstar Taylor Swift was roundly criticized for her performance on the said show, including her duet with Stevie Nicks on the Fleetwood Mac song “Rhiannon”. Some parties say that Ms. Swift seemingly “woke up from her Grammy night celebration with an unpleasant hangover.”

She won four Grammy Awards last Sunday, including the major award ‘Album of the Year’ for her top-grossing ‘Fearless’.

Scott Borchetta, the president and chief executive of the record label Big Machine, which released “Fearless,” has spoken up on behalf of Swift’s performance. He explained that Swift’s critics are “not getting it.”

“The facts say she is the undisputed best communicator that we’ve got. When she says something, when she sings something, when she feels something, it affects more people than anybody else”, he added.

Mr. Borchetta has nothing bad to say about Swift and her performance at the Grammys, “Maybe she’s not the best technical singer, but she’s probably the best emotional singer because everybody else who gets up there and is technically perfect, people don’t seem to want more of it. If you pick any of those artists that performed (at the Grammys), I’m sure you can go online and find something where you go, ‘ew.’ Maybe in that moment we didn’t have the best night. But in the same breath, maybe we did. And nobody is arguing with the awards.”

Mr. Borchetta also confessed that Swift had a technical problem during her duet with Ms. Nicks. With that, she was unable to hear the complete mix of the song as she performed it.
